Chupzta

What is the definition of "chupzta"? How about this: MoveOn.org, a hugely successful fundraising organization for the Democratic party, sponsored a contest with its readers. The website asked its reader to submit 30 second commercials "that tells the truth about George Bush's policies". The winner to be chosen by a vote of the MoveOn readership and a panel of celebrity judges, including actress, Janeane Garlofalo and filmmaker, Michael Moore. The winner was also to be broadcast on television during the Superbowl and the rules promised "we're not going to post anything that would be inappropriate for television".

Two of the entries were revealed to make a not-so-subtle comparison between George Bush and Adolph Hitler. MoveOn posted them and got busted.

When Republican leaders complained (along with Jewish leaders ) the head of MoveOn responded by saying Republicans were "deliberately and maliciously" misleading the public by implying that MoveOn had "sponsored" the ads.

That is chupzta. Their rules, their contest, their website, their post and Republicans are "malicious".

The media double standard continues. As of yet, CBS, NBC, PBS and NPR have yet to comment on an active Democratic fundraising organization's vile characterization of the President of the United States.

Initially I believed the story was more one of media double-standard than one of Leftist moral confusion. I figured they were simply posted for entertainment. Infantile, naive, sick and confused, but entertainment nonetheless.

However, it turns out the Bush-Nazi theme has become a standard among these prominent Democrat supporters.

George Soros, the billionaire who is the Democratic party's largest soft-money donor and the man who gave Moveon's $2.5 million in one month last year, has compared the Bush administration to the Third Reich. Soros, who was born in Hungary said "when I hear Bush say 'your either with us or against us' I think of the Germans". In case anyone didn't make the connection, he added "my experiences under Nazi and Soviet rule have sensitized me".

Michael Moore, one of the celebrity judges of the contest has suggested that the Bush administration is taking the first steps to Nazi-style authoritarianism. In his most recent book, he writes "The Patriot Act is as un-American as Mein Kampf". When challenged on a national talk show he responded "The Patriot Act is the first step...if people don't speak up against something like this you end up with something like they had in Germany".

Jeneane Garofalo, another of the celebrity judges has referred to the Bush administration as the "43rd Reich".

Finally, one of the 15 finalists in the contest previously made a web movie titled "Bush is not a Nazi, so stop saying that" available on their website www.takebackthemedia.com . It begins with ominous music and the warning "The media will not tell you of the Bush family Nazi association". You can imagine the rest.

Why have there have been no comparisons between Bush and the mass murdering Josef Stalin? Hint: Because Stalin is still a hero to some of these people.

Centrist?

A few people have been surprised that I claim the title "centrist" in political affairs. However, I believe that "passionate centrist" is an accurate dipiction of my views.

What confuses people is that they are mistaking passion for extremism. Hence
'passionate centrist". One other explanation is the media is so liberal and mainstream viewpoints sufficiently rare, that they stand out when presented.

Don't believe me?

Most of us could agree that the SF Chronicle is a liberal "rag". Now consider that the Chronicle is editorially identical to the NY Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, L.A. Times, Minnesota Star Tribune, Sacramento Bee, Dallas Ft. Worth Telegraph, Seattle Intellipost, San Diego Tribune, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, AP, UPI, Reuters, PBS...

"Editorially identical"? Each of these organizations and the rest of the media are lockstep on the following issues: War in Iraq, racial preferences, death penalty, abortion, gay marriage, immigration, taxes, tax cuts, education, crime and punishment.

Not a bad record.

The NY Times has editorialized against the execution of Timothy McVeigh, for the death by dehydration of the mentally impaired Terri Schilvo and in favor of partial birth abortion. That's mainstream?!?!?

There is no conspiracy. No conspiracy is needed when everyone already thinks the same.

Most people don't realize that in most countries in Europe the print media is openly bias. You know what you're getting in London when you buy the Telegraph (conservative) or the Mirror (liberal). The same is true in Paris when you take pick up a copy of Le Monde (Left) or Le Figaro (Right).

But not in America. Nooo... American media is impartial.

What little media is conservative, like talk radio is open about their politics. The claim of impartiality is the most biased of all.

Why then do I pick on the Left?

There are plenty of issues where good, honest, intelligent people can disagree. However, the idiocy comes almost entirely from the Left. 14 year olds voting, cross dressing a civil right, ebonics, Illegal immigrant driver's licenses, illegal immigrant in-state college tuition, pet guardians, reparations for slavery, city funded sex change operations...

One of the two mayoral candidates in San Francisco wants to allow non-citizens to vote for school board members.

The Democrat party has become so bad that Al Sharpton can stand on a stage and debate to become President of the United States. The other Democrat candidates get lectured on morals at each stop by a known race hustler and are powerless to do or say anything.

There undoubtedly are conservative fools. By and large, they are not newspaper editors, presidents of universities or mayors of large cities...and they are not running for President of the United States.
